My Best Guesses: Bowl Pickin'
As I start this picks column, Florida International has roared back to take the lead over Toldeo, 28-24, in the Little Caesar’s Bowl. In case you were wondering why I hadn’t posted bowl picks before this, the previous sentence gives you your answer. This might be a good game, but by-and-large, the bowls to this point have been blowouts and snoozers.  Why do we have bowls instead of...

Brandon Roy's Knees
If you’re 25 and reading this column, never mind. You won’t know what I’m talking about. -Oregonian Sports Columnist, John Canzano “Middle Age Comes Early for Brandon Roy” I may not be 25 anymore, but I’m 31. Not too far off from Brandon Roy, who is 26. But, I know exactly what Canzano is talking about, regarding Brandon Roy’s knees. In fact, I...

It's Bowl Season!
That’s right, bowl season. Every college football fan’s dream come true. Every nagging question from the regular season is settled in bowl season. Questions like: Who the hell is going to watch a bowl game between Kansas State and Syracuse? Which is the better 7-5 team; Miami or Notre Dame? Who would win a meaningless match up between Northern Illinois and Fresno State? (scuttled...

Texas Offensive Coordinator Resigns →
sportsinstilettos: Texas’ offensive coordinator, Greg Davis, resigned after the Longhorns’ atrocious season…but will that really solve the problem? Sure the offense “staggered through most of the 2010 season.” And Davis was in charge of that offense, which struggled throughout the season. But Davis, like head coach Mack Brown, was also there for the ‘05 National Championship (which I do not...

Heisman Post
This has been a weird year.  Our Heisman frontrunner, by most accounts, is Cam Newton, a guy who is eligible to play football, despite the fact that his father solicited money for his commitment. One our other Heisman finalists is LaMichael James, a player who charged with assault on an ex-girlfriend last year and didn’t play in the first game of this season as a part of his punishment.  Who...

My Best Guesses: Week 14
So, this is just about it for the college football season. It seems like it goes by faster and faster each year. Three months in the blink of an eye. It’s championship week for most teams and the only game next week is Army v. Navy. Then, it’s on to the 30-odd bowls in just a few short weeks.  Last week, with the extra pick thrown in, I went 4-2. Only Kyle Brotzman and Knile Davis...
